This location will focus on restoration stewardship activities such as removing invasive plants and trail building, dress for being in the woods - long pants, long sleeves, boots preferred or shoes that can get dirty.
The Chicago-Calumet River system is healthier now than it’s been in 150 years, but litter continues to be detrimental, harming people and wildlife and causing negative community, economic, and public health impacts. You can make a difference by volunteering with Friends of the Chicago River on Chicago River Day - our fun, free, family-friendly annual cleanup Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
