BROKER CE Requirements (April 30, 2026)
If License Issued BEFORE November 1, 2023:
12 hours total:
6-hour Core course (now includes 2 hours of Fair Housing training)
6 hours of electives (must include 1 hour Sexual Harassment Prevention Training)
Note: If you completed a 4-hour Core course between May 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025, it still counts - but you'll need 8 hours of electives instead of 6.
If License Issued Between November 1, 2023 and October 31, 2025 (First-Time Renewal):
45 hours Post-License Education - NOT regular CE. This is three 15-hour courses covering:
Applied Brokerage Principles
Risk Management/Discipline
Transactional Issues
(Sexual Harassment Prevention Training is included in the 45-hour curriculum)
If License Issued ON OR AFTER November 1, 2025:
No renewal required in 2026 - your first renewal is April 30, 2028
LEASING AGENT CE Requirements (July 31, 2026)
If License Issued BEFORE May 1, 2024:
8-hour Residential Leasing Agent Core Course (includes the required 1 hour of Sexual Harassment Prevention Training)
If License Issued ON OR AFTER May 1, 2024:
No CE required for this renewal - but still must pay fee and submit renewal
ATTORNEYS - The Exemption
Attorneys admitted to practice law pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court rule are exempt from CE, but must certify on the renewal application full compliance with the CE requirements. Illinois
What this means:
No courses required (no CE, no post-license education)
STILL must submit renewal application
STILL must pay the renewal fee ($200 for brokers, $250 for managing brokers)
Must certify compliance on the application form

How to Check Your Completed CE Credits

How to Renew After Completing CE
Complete CE through an IDFPR-approved provider (they report your completion electronically)
Access the IDFPR Online Services Portal: https://online-dfpr.micropact.com/
Log in (you'll get an email with PIN about 60-90 days before deadline, or use SSN + DOB)
Find your license under "My Licenses" and click renew
Certify compliance with CE requirements
Pay the fee
Processing time: Allow 2-4 business days for license to update

Do You Need to Mail Anything?
Typically NO - everything is done online through the IDFPR portal.
